Connecting to the Cal State LA Wi-Fi

Below are instructions on how to connect to the Cal State LA Wi-Fi from various devices.

Windows 8 and Windows 10

  1. Click the Wi-Fi network icon on your device and connect to the CSULA-SECURE Network.
  2. Enter your MyCalStateLA ID username and password and click OK.
  3. When Windows tries to “verify the server’s identity”, click Connect*.

*If your device attempts to connect to CSULA-OPEN, delete or “forget” that network.

Windows 7

  1. Click the Wi-Fi network icon on your device and connect to the CSULA-OPEN Network.
  2. Launch a web browser to any page. The browser should redirect to the wireless welcome page.
  3. Select Student and then select Windows 7.
  4. Click Start. The QuickConnect Wizard* will open.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions and enter your MyCalStateLA ID username and password to connect.
  6. Upon successful authentication, click Yes to install a certificate that will establish a connection to CSULA-SECURE.
  7. Click Connect in the QuickConnect Wizard window, then, close the window.
  8. Delete or “forget” CSULA-OPEN.

*Faculty and staff will follow on-screen instructions in the “Onboard Wizard” after logging in using their MyCalStateLA ID credentials.

Chrome OS

  1. Launch the Wi-Fi setting on your mobile device and select the CSULA-SECURE network.
  2. Set the Wi-Fi Configuration settings as follows:
    1. EAP METHOD: PEAP
    2. PHASE 2 AUTHENTICATION: MSCHAPV2
    3. SERVER CA CERTIFICATE: Do not check.
  3. Enter your MyCalStateLA ID username and password in the Identity and Password fields, respectively.

Android

  1. Launch the Wi-Fi setting on your mobile device and select the CSULA-SECURE network.
  2. Set the Wi-Fi Configuration settings as follows:
    1. EAP METHOD: PEAP
    2. PHASE 2 AUTHENTICATION: MSCHAPV2
    3. CA Certificate: Select "Do not validate" or leave blank..
  3. Enter your MyCalStateLA ID username and password in the Identity and Password fields, respectively.

iOS

  1. Launch Wi-Fi settings on your mobile device and connect to the CSULA-SECURE* network.
  2. Enter your MyCalStateLA ID username and password and tap Join.
  3. Accept the certificate CSULAwifi.certificate.edu.

*If your device was previously configured to connect to CSULA-OPEN, delete or “forget” that network.

MAC OSX

  1. Click the Wi-Fi network icon on your device and connect to the CSULA-SECURE* network.
  2. Enter your MyCalStateLA ID username and password and click Join.

Chromebook / Ubuntu / Other UNIX based OS

  1. Click the Wi-Fi network icon on your device and connect to the CSULA-SECURE* network. Use the following settings:
    • Security Type - WPA2-Enterprise
    • Encryption Type - AES
    • EAP Method - PEAP
    • Phase 2 authentication - MSCHAPv2
    • CA Certificate: Install from the Help Desk Flash Drive or Shared Drive under Network and Connectivity
    • PEAP Method: Leave on "Auto"
