3:05 p.m. - 4:05 p.m. Holmes Structures Holmes Structures delivers premium structural and fire engineering as well as product development and testing. Join Senior Engineer, Gareth Morris, to learn how they solve complicated problems by striving for engineering elegance.
Gareth is a Senior Engineer at Holmes. He has extensive experience with new buildings, seismic evaluations, and strengthening of existing structures. Gareth began his professional career dedicated to the Christchurch “re-build” following the damaging 2010-2011 Canterbury Earthquake Sequence. He also contributes to Holmes’ internal technical development and leads the Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures for Holmes’ significant projects. Gareth also enjoys keeping current and involved with the wider earthquake engineering community, including SEAOC, QuakeCoRE, the New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineering (NZSEE). His exposure to contemporary research and emerging issues from historic earthquakes allows him to consider and apply knowledge from the most recent lessons learned. |

4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. ECST Outreach Day Host: MESA and NSBE at Cal State LA, CA High-Speed Rail Authority Cal State LA's Math, Engineering, Science, Achievement (MESA) and National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), along with the California High-Speed Rail Authority, partner with local schools to explore environmental stewardship, showcase, and learn about career pathways in engineering and computer science. The event's goal is to build a bridge for these high school students toward ECST and the start of lasting mentorship opportunities with our NSBE student leaders. |
