Assistant professor of Engineering Education Dr. Corin (Corey) Bowen was a member of the Organizing Committee of the Engineering, Social Justice and Peace (ESJP) 2024 Conference. The conference took place both in-person at Chalmers University in Gothenburg, Sweden and online. This year's conference theme was "Another University is Possible", and a special issue of the International Journal of Engineering, Social Justice, and Peace is being published from contributions from the conference.
ESJP is an informal network of critical scholars and practitioners from around the world, and it is open to anyone interested in joining the community. More information can be found at the ESJP website.

We are excited to announce that the shake table facility at Cal State LA is now fully operational!
Witness the first test, where a scaled special steel concentrically braced frame was subjected to earthquakes of varying intensities and directions.
Thanks to generous funding from the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), led by Dr. Maryam Nazari (Principal Investigator), this pioneering experiment represents the very first utilization of our shake table, opening doors to innovative advancements in earthquake resilience.
The shake table has been funded by the Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) program of the National Science Foundation (NSF) under Grant No. 1531582 (Principal Investigator: Dr. Tonatiuh Rodriguez-Nikl).
