Cal State LA College of ECST invites you to celebrate National Engineers Week 2023. Join in-person and virtual sessions throughout the week to learn about career paths, internships, and early career opportunities, hear from inspiring professional panels and engage in career workshops to learn how to be successful in your job search, application processes, and navigating professional spaces as a new engineer or technologist. The Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) is creating an inclusive green economy by unlocking innovation, transforming markets, and enhancing communities. Each year we work with 35-50 companies across our three tracks of cleantech startup programs to raise outside funding and gain traction in the market. LACI is committed to creating a cleantech community that integrates women, people of color, and other underserved groups – we strongly encourage applications to all of our programs and competitions from underrepresented groups to help us build a more sustainable and equitable ecosystem.

Join Cal State LA ECST Alum Ralph Belleca (BS in Computer Science, 2022) in this informational and inspiring session as he shares details about his journey as a Bloomberg Software Engineer in New York, NY. Ralph will talk about internships, job hunting, interview preparation, and his early experiences at Bloomberg. Ricky Alcaraz Briseno, an Entry Level Engineering Recruiter, will join Ralph to discuss recruitment and other Bloomberg opportunities.

Los Angeles County Public Works (LACPW)

The Department of Public Works consists of more than 5,500 employees and is responsible for the design, construction, renovation, and operation of public projects ranging from bridges to wastewater treatment plants and libraries; curbside collection and graffiti removal; and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, sewers, streetlights, and street trees. Join Cal State LA ECST Alum Van Truong (M.S. Civil Engineering, 2009) in this session to learn more about Los Angeles Public Works and how to navigate applications for employment with Los Angeles County for current opportunities, including their Civil Engineering Associate and Civil Engineering Student positions! Van will also participate in a moderated panel in this session to share a bit about his inspiring career journey as an Engineer, as well as tips and advice for students and upcoming graduates. We will have an open Q&A with students toward the end of the session.
