Minor in WGSS

The Minor in WGSS gives students the opportunity to enhance their undergraduate education through 18 units of interdisciplinary study of gender, sexuality, race, and class in social identities, institutions, and systems of power. The Minor prepares students for graduate education in various disciplines, as well as careers that require diversity skills and working with women and LGBTQ populations. WGSS Minors come from departments across the university, including Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, English, Biology, Political Science and Ethnic Studies.

The total number of units required for the B.A. degree in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies is 9 units in the WGSS core requirements, and 9 units of electives in the areas of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Humanities.  Courses taken for the WGSS Minor may double-count for Generation Education and/or the student’s B.A. degree program.

If you are an enrolled Cal State LA student, you can declare a Major in WGSS Major through the Arts and Letters Advisement Center, or email the Department Chair.
