Department of Art Facilities

ANIMATION LABS   
Two stop-motion labs with DSLR cameras, downshooters, multiplanes, motion-control rigs, and professional lighting equipment. The Animation Workshop is also a small, private computer lab for animation students which includes a 3D printer and two animation tables.

COMA GALLERY    
This gallery is a student-run exhibition space within the Department of Art. COMA presents weekly rotating exhibitions of Cal State LA student artwork. The mission of COMA is to offer students the opportunity for solo exhibitions, advance the most recent information on the various methodologies of exhibiting art and provide curatorial experience.

DESIGN LIBRARY
The Design Library is a small but valuable resource for design graduate students. It contains over 1,000 books and magazines, a majority of which are not available in the main library.

DIGITAL CLASSROOMS
Two Digital Classrooms, each equipped with twenty-four 27” iMacs, overhead projection, and white boards. These classrooms are used for both instruction and open lab time.

GRADUATE STUDIO
The Graduate Studios provide private studio space to Graduate students in the MFA or MA programs. The students have 24-hour access to their studios in order to ease and facilitate their production of art.

RONALD H. SILVERMAN FINE ARTS GALLERY
The mission of the Ronald H. Silverman Fine Arts Gallery is to serve the exhibition needs of the Department of Art’s students and faculty. The gallery further serves the entire urban and diverse university community by providing a forum for investigating a wide range of visual cultures, presenting cultural exhibits and the work of professional artists year around.

TOOL CRIB
The Tool Crib houses the Department of Art’s specialized tools, equipment, and art supplies needed for art making. The Tool Crib staff purchase, store, issue, and loan tools to students and faculty.
