We would like to formally invite you to join the Order of the Engineer
by attending this year's College of ECST's virtual ceremony on
Friday, May 14, 2021, from 4:00-5:00 p.m.
WHAT IS THE ORDER OF ENGINEER?
The Order of the Engineer is an organization created to foster a spirit of pride and responsibility in the engineering profession. The Order is not a membership organization; there are never any meetings to attend or dues to pay. Instead, the Order fosters a unity of purpose and the honoring of one's lifelong pledge to "Uphold Devotion to the Standards and Dignity of the Engineering profession." Members accepting the obligation often wear a stainless steel ring on the small finger of their dominant hand.
WHO CAN TAKE THE OATH?
This event is intended for undergraduate students earning engineering BS degrees in 2020 and 2021or those who have earned them earlier. Graduate students who earned their undergrad degree in CE, ME, EE at Cal State LA, or any other ABET-accredited engineering programs are welcome to participate.
WHAT DO I NEED FOR THE CEREMONY?
• Stainless Steel Ring
The ring is to be worn on the small finger of your dominant hand.
As it hits the table as you write and remind you to maintain the standards of engineering.
• Obligation Certificate
The certificate will be mailed to you after participating in the ceremony and taking your oath.
• One-Time Fee of $20
The fee covers a lifetime membership in the Order of the Engineer.
• Participate in Oath Ceremony
The Order of the Engineer requires participating in an Oath ceremony, all participants must be in attendance the entire program.
REGISTER TO ATTEND
If you're interested in participating in the virtual Order of the Engineer ceremony, you'll need to complete the online registration to receive an individualized zoom link and purchase the Order of the Engineer membership package, which includes the cost of the ring and certificate by Wednesday, April 28, 2021.
1. Register to Attend the Order of Engineer Oath
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with event access information.
2. Purchase Order of the Engineer Membership Package
Cal State LA is Link #284 and the date of the ceremony is May 14, 2021.
To receive your ring order on time, please place your order no later than Wednesday, April 28, 2021. Any orders placed after April 28th; cannot guarantee you will receive your order in time.
ATTENDANCE
The program will begin promptly at 4:00 p.m. via Zoom. You may not leave the ceremony early; no late attendees will be admitted after 4:00 p.m., no exceptions. If you miss the ceremony this year, alumni can return and participate next year.
