Software Licensing

Information Technology Services provides and maintains licensing for various assistive technology and accessibility software. Licensing is primarily for university machines; however, some licensing allows for installation on personal computers. Choose from the categories below to determine which applications are available.

ITS deploys and maintains the following assistive software applications for use on campus:

  • JAWS screen reader
  • ZoomText on-screen magnification
  • ZoomText Fusion hybrid magnification and screen reading
  • ABBYY FineReader
  • CommonLook Office
  • CommonLook PDF

Submit the Software Request Form (faculty & staff) to request installation.

Students, faculty, and staff are eligible for a home-use license of either JAWS, ZoomText, or ZoomText Fusion for use on a personal (non-university) computer. Go to the Freedom Scientific Home-Use Licensing webpage and enter your Cal State LA campus email address to access an individual license of the following applications:

  • JAWS screen reader
  • ZoomText on-screen magnification
  • ZoomText Fusion hybrid magnification and screen reading
