ECST has a split advising model carried out by the ECST Advising Center and the Department faculty to ensure students achieve their educational and personal goals. 

Continue to work with the ECST Advisors at the Student Success Center. A lower-division student includes those who have not completed the Calculus/Differential Equations series and Physics series. Visit the ECST Advising Schedule page for details.

To prepare for your meeting:

  1. Add the meeting information (date/time/zoom info) to your calendars.
    • The confirmation email provides *.ics links to add to your Google and Outlook calendars.
    • Links to cancel/reschedule are included in the confirmation email sent by Calendly. 
  2. Run your degree planner (required) before attending the meeting. 
  3. Come prepared with your questions and concerns ready. Please have that open and ready to share if we ask you to bring information.
  4. 30-minutes is sometimes not enough time to cover all your concerns; follow-up may be needed.

Adding A Class

If you wish to add a class after the first day of instruction, contact the instructor directly via email. Be prepared to show proof of prerequisites. Before the first day of instruction, the ECST Advising Center at E&T A-125 or the CE Department at E&T A-212 can issue permits or clearances.

If you have issues adding a course because a prerequisite is missing, please click on the Civil Engineering Clearance Request form link to submit your request. Evidence of taking the course must be provided if you are currently enrolled in a prerequisite outside of Cal State LA. Please submit a request if you are having issues with CE 3060.
