Who is this for?
The program is required for all incoming undergraduate students, including:
- first-time freshmen
- transfer students
- returning students
- international students
Post-Baccalaureate students, graduate students (masters and doctoral degrees), and students attending the Downtown Los Angeles campus are not required to attend.
How to Sign Up
You will need to make a reservation to participate. Sign up now through the link in your Orientation Invitation email, or by selecting “Orientation Reservations” icon in your Student Portal.
The Orientation Fee is $70, and can be paid in full or in two $35-dollar installments by e-check or credit/debit card. If you choose to pay in installments, the first installment will be due when you sign up in order to complete your reservation. The second installment will be due after the start of the fall semester.
For more information, please see our Frequently Asked Questions.
Prepare with Pre-Orientation
After you sign up for Remote Orientation, kickstart your transition to University life with Pre-Orientation. This is a virtual program that will provide you with many of the basics about your new campus home.
How to Get Started
You can access the program by clicking “Pre-Orientation” in your Student Portal. You can complete the program at your own pace. If you need to step away for a while, the system will remember your place and bring you back to that spot when you return.
You should complete Pre-Orientation before you participate in your live Remote Orientation session.
Is This Mandatory?
Yes. You need to complete Pre-Orientation, Remote Orientation, and an academic advising group session. Details about these sessions will come from your college advising center starting in May. Check your Cal State LA email.
If you have trouble accessing the Pre-Orientation, please contact New Student and Family Engagement at [email protected]. Be sure to include your CIN, and a screenshot if possible.
