Assistance Programs

Cal State LA's CalFresh Outreach Center staff can assist, advise, and advocate with the CalFresh application. CalFresh, known federally as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP, provides monthly benefits to purchase groceries for low-income individuals and families.

NSFE is partnering with the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center to collect and distribute new and gently-used children’s clothing (ages 0-5T) and stocked diaper bags and children’s toiletries. More details coming soon!

New Student and Family Engagement wants to help ease transportation burdens! Join the Students with Dependents email list to stay connected to student parent updates and get automatically entered into a weekly giveaway for a gas or Uber gift card! Giveaway eligibility is for currently enrolled students while classes are in session during the fall and spring semesters.

California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids, also known as CalWORKs, is a Los Angeles County program that provides temporary financial assistance and employment-focused services to lower-income families with minor children.

Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) is a nutrition program that provides practical nutrition information for mothers and children, support information about breastfeeding, referrals to health care and other community services, and benefits to buy healthy foods.

California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) — The CalEITC offers support for low-income, working Californians.

Young Child Tax Credit (YCTC) — If you are eligible for the CalEITC, you may also be eligible for the YCTC which provides tax credit to Californians who have a child under 6 years old.
