Congratulations on completing high school and being accepted to Cal State LA! Your educational journey is just beginning.

Cal State LA offers a 2-day orientation experience with an optional overnight component during the summer (June-August) for students admitted for the Fall 2026 semester, and 1-day experience during the winter (January) for students admitted for the spring semester. First-time freshmen are expected to attend Orientation in person. 

Once you have been conditionally admitted, you will have the opportunity to pay your Enrollment Confirmation Deposit. This is the next important step in journey into Cal State LA.

Freshmen will begin receiving email invitations to sign up for Orientation in February of 2026. Please be sure to read the invitation email carefully and follow the steps to successfully complete your Orientation reservation. 

First Year Connections (Summer Only)

Get a head start over the summer with First Year Connections! Students who enroll in a summer Early Start Course will have the chance to complete a GE math or English before the start of the fall semester. Provisionally admitted students should check their Cal State LA email for important information regarding their participation. Visit the Supportive Pathways in Summer page for more information. Eligibility is based on multiple measures.

If you have been admitted to Cal State LA as a pre-nursing major, please plan to attend First Flight Orientation on the date below:

Orientation Tours not only take you around the campus, but they will also highlight where your fall classes will be located! After you have finished enrolling in classes, sign up for an Orientation Tour. There is no charge for this activity, but a reservation is required (RSVPs open in July 2026).

► Download the Cal State LA GETMobile App!

Download GETMobile app to view your class and exam schedules and other useful info. Log in to GETmobile from your phone with your #MyCalStateLA ID username (e.g., jsmith1) and password. For more information, visit the ITS GETmobile page.

► Complete your Orientation reservation

Reserve your spot while spaces are available. Orientation dates are first come, first served!

► Finish the Pre-Orientation

Located in your Student Portal on the left-hand side; click the “Online Orientation” tab.

► Check your Orientation Task List

There are many important items you will need to take care of before you can successfully enroll in classes. Carefully review and complete each item on the Orientation Task List. We know this is all new for you, so if you have questions, ask!

► Get academic advisement and register for classes

  • You will participate in a small-group advising session and register for classes at in-person Orientation. For further resources on academic advising, visit the Academic Advising Student Resource page. Learn more about registering for classes by watching this Schedule Planner video.

► Join your First Flight Orientation House!

  • New students will be automatically sorted into a First Flight House
  • Make friends and network with your fellow new students, even before Orientation!
  • Get your questions answered by the Orientation Leader team
  • You will receive an email invitation to use your GETMobile app to join the First Flight House online community
