Drs. Denice Rios & Ramar Henderson

Unlocking Potential of Black and Brown Professionals Through Culturally Responsive Mentorship"
DENICE RIOS
Assistant Professor
PH.D., BCBA-D
Dr. Rios earned her bachelor's and master's degree from California State University, Northridge and her doctoral degree in Behavior Analysis from Western Michigan University. Her research interests include examining effective staff training strategies (e.g., feedback), assessment and treatment of problem behavior, use of behavior analytic strategies via telehealth, assessment and treatment of elopement occasioned by transitions, and addressing microagressions in the workplace. Dr. Rios is also passionate about issues related to equity and inclusion within the field of behavior analysis
RAMAR HENDERSON
Assistant Professor
PH.D., APCC, CRC
Dr. Henderson's research interests include multicultural and cross-cultural factors that impact the therapeutic relationship, mentorship, racial identity, sports psychology, and Black psychology. In addition, Dr. Henderson has extensive experience in service to the community. He has been involved with social activism, engaged in various speaking engagements regarding the personal and emotional challenges of Black male youth navigating higher education systems, and has been consistently active with Black male initiatives. He received the Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award and developed outreach programs to support students to navigate college.

The Haven at College believes that college students struggling with mental health and substance use should have access to comprehensive treatment and support so they can succeed in a university environment and in life.
The Haven at College provides tailored mental health and substance use treatment for young adults for whom college is a part of their plan, through an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
Most of our clients are ages 18-30 and are attending college full-time, some are attending part-time and some have taken a break from their academic path, but intend to return once they are healthy and ready.
