Welcome to Cal State LA!
Every fall semester, there's an orientation for new faculty to introduce key campus offices and resources. New faculty will receive scheduling information from the Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence.
Early Career Faculty Program
Supporting your Success!
The Office of Faculty Affairs in collaboration with the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging support faculty retention and employment satisfaction. The Early Career Faculty Program offers monthly events that range from workshops and feedback sessions to networking sessions and informal lunches.
Faculty Engagement
Academic Senate
The Academic Senate at Cal State LA fosters faculty, staff, and college dean participation in University policy making. The Senate is a representative body that acts for the faculty, provides for faculty planning and consideration in the development of policy, and ensures regular communication between faculty and administration in policy matters.
The Emeriti Association
The Emeriti Association of Cal State LA is an organization dedicated to enhancing the status and condition of the University's emeriti faculty, and to strengthening emeriti faculty ties to the University. It supports and encourages the University's policy of "fostering an active continuity of relationship with emeriti."
CETL
The Center for Effective Teaching and Learning promotes teaching as an area of practice and scholarship for all faculty, in fulfillment of professional growth and the larger university mission. It also offers academic technology support to maximize the integration of the University's education tools.
Faculty Excellence
Outstanding Professor Awards 2023
Cal State LA values and celebrates the accomplishments of our faculty, recognizing them during Convocation each year. In Fall 2023, five Cal State LA faculty members were recognized for excellence in teaching and outstanding achievements as part of the Outstanding Professor Award, Outstanding Lecturer Award, and the President's Distinguished Professor Award. Recipients were honored for significant achievements in scholarly inquiry or creativity, as well as professional activities and community service.
