Registration Information

Registering for Extended Studies classes is easy and flexible:  You do not need transcripts or a formal application to the university. 

Simply obtain a Registration Form for the quarter you intend to enroll you may find this form on our website www.calstatela.edu/extension, or in the Extended Studies and International Programs (CESIP) Welcome Center, University-Student Union, Room 105 on campus.  Then, on the registration form, list the course(s) you wish to take, including course and section numbers.  For most online, certificate, professional training, test preparation, and personal enrichment courses, you are finished and can proceed paying for your course(s).

For open university courses, attend the first meeting of the class, obtain the instructor’s signature to “add” you to the class (Open University classes are offered on a “space available” basis), and obtain the departmental stamp from the department offering the course (the Computer Science department office, e.g., if you are taking a computer science course).  There are some additional requirements if you will be taking a graduate level course (course numbers 500 and above) or a non-classroom course.  See our Frequently Asked Questions section, below, or call the CESIP office at (323) 343-4900 for additional information.

Paying for Courses

Use the method that best suit your needs:

  1. Online:  At the Cal State L.A. website, www.calstatela.edu/extension, look for the CASHNet® logo alongside the course description.  These classes may currently be purchased online.  You will have a selection of credit card options to choose from after adding your courses to your Basket and proceeding to Checkout.
  2. By Telephone:  You may pay with a VISA or Mastercard by telephone.

  3. In Person:  To pay by cash, check or money order, please visit the CESIP Welcome Center first for initial processing. You will then be directed to:

Registration deadlines, with the exception of Open University, for both credit (Extension Credit & Special Sessions) and non-credit (Professional Development) courses: DUE BY THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS. Please refer to the Extended Studies class schedule for dates and times.

The Cashier will no longer accept credit card payments. To pay by credit card (VISA or MasterCard only), call or deliver your registration directly to the CESIP office.
