EDSC | Weinberg | Lois | National | Two education liaison models seek to improve educational outcomes of foster youth. | A paper session at the Annual Meeting of the American Educational Research Association, Philadelphia, PA. Youth in foster care have exceedingly poor educational outcomes related to a host of early risk factors and barriers once they enter the foster care system. This presentation describes two different education liaison models that were each designed to address many of the barriers. It shows the strengths of each model over a three-year period for cohorts of youth in foster care supported by the respective education liaison on measures of school stability, academic performance, and school engagement. |
