Project Kapono: Leveraging Robotic Technology to Improve the Student Experience in Elementary Classrooms

Kapono

A key initiative of the Charter College of Education, Project Kapono brings humanoid robot technology into local classrooms in the urban setting using two NAO robots named Kapono and Ethica. Students in select kindergarten through second-grade classrooms are exposed to robotic technology during 30-45 minute visits by a faculty-led team. Each visit includes demonstrations of the humanoid robots’ abilities and coding platforms, content lessons, and stories customized for each class. The curriculum also includes interactive activities and Q&A opportunities for students to engage directly with Kapono or Ethica.

Watch this latest video produced by the Project Team to see and hear Kapono recite a lesson about Valentine’s Day.
