Overview
Family Math Nights are interactive, hands-on events where children and their families engage in joyful math activities. They are designed and facilitated by our preservice teachers as part of their coursework on teaching mathematics. The goal is to create a welcoming environment where families see math as meaningful, accessible, and connected to everyday life.
Objectives
- Support children and families by offering engaging math experiences that highlight intuitive and everyday mathematics.
- Prepare preservice teachers to design tasks, communicate with families, and understand how students' home and community knowledge can inform classroom teaching.
Schools
The College of Education partners with local elementary schools focusing on Kindergarten–5 students and their families.
