Certificate Programs

The Marketing Department offers the following Undergraduate Certificate Programs:

Fashion Retailing

A credit certificate in Retailing is offered to those who wish to obtain expertise in the numerous retailing areas. The certificate is valuable for students wishing to pursue retailing careers without completing Business Administration degree requirements for retailing.

International Business

A credit certificate program in International Business is offered for those who wish to obtain expertise in international business without completing the degree program. This certificate is valuable for students who are pursuing other areas of business for their major but wish to obtain training in international business, managers of international companies who want or further enhance their careers, or nonbusiness students who have an interest in international business.

International Business Communication

The undergraduate credit certificate in International Business Communication affords students the opportunity to combine language, culture, communication, and business knowledge. It gives College of Business and Economics majors a chance to add language and intercultural expertise, along with enhanced communication skills, to their program of study. At the same time, it gives language majors, Communications majors, and area studies majors a chance to add business courses to their program of study. The certificate enables students to pursue careers in organizations that seek persons with both recognized language skills and business training, such as international business, international foundations, nongovernment organizations, and international educational organizations. The language, culture and communication components also benefit students who obtain jobs in local organizations whose employees represent multiple cultures.

Marketing

The Department of Marketing offers a Baccalaureate Certificate in Marketing designed to prepare students for professional careers in marketing in both the public and private sector. A total of 18 units (6 courses) are required for the certificate including 12 units (4 courses) that are required and 6 units (2 courses) that are electives.

Social Media

The certificate program in social media is designed to prepare business students, students in other academic disciplines, and working professionals from the extended community with the knowledge to develop social media marketing strategies and to engage customers through the application of social media.

Sustainability Marketing

The Certificate in Sustainability Marketing will provide the opportunity for students enrolled in all CSULA degree programs, as well as working professionals from the external community, to broaden their understanding of mounting environmental and social issues that impact our local and global communities; transform the design, marketing, and consumption of products and services within an interdisciplinary framework of environmental and social sustainability; and to enhance their employment portfolio to appeal to the increasing number of public and private employers seeking college graduates with a deeper understanding of the human impact of environmental issues.

Transportation and Logistics

The Department of Marketing, in cooperation with the Office of Extended Studies and International Programs, offers an undergraduate credit certificate program in Transportation and Logistics, designed for individuals intending: to work in the movement of raw materials and freight to manufacturing, warehousing, and retail facilities; pursuing a career in the field of industrial traffic, transportation and logistics.
