Welcome to the Department of Information Systems. The Information Systems Department offers a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems with two undergraduate options in Information Systems and Information Technology. The BSIS covers all areas of information systems and information technology, including network administration, database administration, World Wide Web creation/maintenance/enhancement/security, etc. Another alternative for students in the College of Business and Economics is a dual major, an attractive option for students majoring in another field of business, such as accounting, finance, management, marketing, economics, etc. By choosing the Information Systems option in the BSIS program and by taking an additional 8 courses in CIS, a student can obtain two bachelor’s degrees. We also offer a Minor in Information Systems to provide students majoring in business and other disciplines the opportunity to develop skills needed to apply computer information systems to their major field of study. There are several certificate programs available such as: Computer Programming, Advanced Information Systems, SAP, CISCO, and Internet Security, for matriculated and non-matriculated students. At the graduate level students may pursue a Master of Science in Information System designed to provide managers and professionals the necessary technical and managerial skills needed to fulfill the responsibilities of senior professional and project management positions in the Information Systems/Technology field.
The Department employs 10 full-time faculty members and numerous regular part-time faculty members with specialties in networking, Enterprise Resource Planning (SAP), security, database management, programming, web page creation and maintenance. Our faculty use innovative teaching methods including team teaching, field studies, service learning, class simulations and debates, and computer simulated business games.
