Description

The Ann Garry and Sharon L. Bishop Feminist Philosophy Endowed Lecture Series presents a panel discussion on The Philosophy of María Lugones Meets Transgender Studies: A Complex Conversation

Since its inception in the nineties, the theoretical frameworks undergirding Trans Studies have largely been shaped around white, anglo queer theory and anthropological studies of gender variance. Panelists Talia Bettcher (Cal State LA), Pedro (PJ) DiPietro (Syracuse University), Hil Malatino (Penn State), and Andrea Pitts (UNC Charlotte) explore the relevance of María Lugones’s philosophy to a re-understanding of trans and nonbinary oppression and resistance within a decolonial feminist framework.
