Description

In Celebration of National Poetry Month, the Center for Contemporary Poetry and Poetics is proud to bring you, Cantaluz – Sing light!

4 LA Women of Color Poets Reunite at Cal State LA.

Around the mid-90s, five LA-based women poets of color organized Cantaluz ("Sing Light"). Gloria Alvarez, Jiseh James, Nancy Padron, Amy Uyematsu, and Pam Ward felt the need for writers of color to work together. After doing some readings as Cantaluz in the 90s, the group was inactive until 2017 when they reunited and read as part of the 90x90 Writ Large series. They are excited about reuniting once more! This poetry event will feature GloriaPamJiseh, and Amy

Light refreshments will be available.
