The Roommate Search and Select feature provides students with the opportunity to request friends as roommates and/or search for potential roommates. Students are not required to pre-select roommates, as any student without a selected roommate will be paired up with another student using the student profile questionnaire.
This year, Roommate Wizard is available to returning residents April 16 - 30, 2024, and new residents June 3 - 17, 2024. Visit the Deadlines page for more information.
Students are not required to participate in the Roommate Wizard process; students who don't use this tool will be assigned roommates based on their responses to the student profile questionnaire.

Important Housing Assignment Information

South Village is for students under 21 years old and is a traditional residence hall with shared common restrooms only. Each community in South Village is equipped with (4) four common restrooms per floor, consisting of three shower stalls, three toilet stalls and three sinks.

University Apartments are for residents 21 and older and have in-unit bathrooms that are only shared with housemates/roommates.
Roommate Wizard Steps
Click on “Housing Portal” on the Housing and Residence Life Website
Select 2024-2025 Academic Year, "Apply here"
Select "Continue"
Create your profile and select your assignment preference: Roommate or Room.
There are times when we can’t accommodate both a room preference and a roommate preference, so we ask you which you’d like us to prioritize when we make final Housing assignments.
Create a Web Screen Name and add information about yourself.
If you already know who you want to live with, you may search for roommates by details.
If you want to search for a new roommate, then you may search by profile questions or view suggested roommates based on potential compatibility.
Roommate Search by Details
If you know who you want to live with, you'll need their CIN and full name.
Roommate Search by Profile
This allows you to search for roommates based on information students shared in their student profile.
Suggested Roommates
This permits you to browse roommates that have been suggested to you by the system's matching mechanism. If you are browsing matching roommates, this information is entirely based on answers to the student profile questionnaire.
The Roommate Wizard manages your roommate process by allowing you to find roommate groups, make requests and accept or deny them.
All roommate requests must be accepted within 48 hours of the request, otherwise it resets.
Reminder: Profiles are not viewable during the accept and decline process of the roommate group process so make sure to view profiles before you send request to ensure it's a compatible roommate.
Once your roommate group is verified, you'll see this notification.
At that time, you'll be able to view profiles again.
Continue this process if you want to create a larger roommate group for the apartments.
Once you're done, you may log out.
Important Information about the Roommate Process
View a few different scenarios when using the Roommate Wizard process.
Introduce yourself and ask that they view your profile to see if they are interested in being roommates. Share your information with them so they can check out your profile.
Do not send roommate group request until you have agreed to be roommates. You may only view profiles before roommate groups begin or after you are in a group. Profiles are not viewable during the accept and decline process of the roommate group process. You must agree to be roommates before sending out roommate group requests.
Now that you have mutually agreed to be roommates send out the request so that the other person can re-enter the portal to officially join the roommate group.
Application Details
If a student is interested in being assigned a room with a preferred roommate, the student will utilize the Roommate Search Wizard to identify the individual or individuals with whom they wish to share a bedroom. Students who are interested in living in the same bedroom must complete the roommate search, select and confirmation process. All students must have completed an online application, license agreement, paid all fees and confirm a mutual roommate request (i.e. group).
(Applies Only to University Apartment Applicants): If a group of students are interested in being assigned to an apartment together, they will utilize the roommate search and select wizard to identify the individuals they wish to share an apartment with. Students who are interested in living together in the same apartment must complete the roommate search, select, and confirmation process. All students must have completed an online application, license agreement, paid all fees and confirmed mutual roommate requests (i.e. group).
Students may participate in the Housing Application Process as an individual and do not need to request a roommate. Once a student has completed the Online Housing Application Process we will assign them to an available bed with a roommate during the assignment process using the profile questionnaire answers to find the best available roommate match.
We ask that you provide a name you would prefer to be called amongst your peers when searching profiles in the Roommate Search and Select Wizard. We also ask that you provide a few statements about yourself to help others learn about your hobbies and interests outside of what is already listed in your student profile.
Important to note: University Administrators are actively monitoring names and messages while assisting other students therefore we ask that you maintain university standards and guidelines when selecting how to express yourself amongst the Golden Eagle community.
