Steps to apply for Academic Year 2026-2027

Please note, if you are a newly admitted undergraduate student for Fall 2026, you must pay the $100 Enrollment Confirmation Deposit (ECD) before applying to live on campus. Only students who have paid their $100 ECD to confirm enrollment with Cal State LA will obtain access to the online housing application and license agreement. 

Once you pay the ECD, it will take some time to be processed before you gain access to apply online through the Housing Portal. Please check your email after making your ECD payment for processing time. You will not receive an email alert once you have been processed, so we encourage you to try logging on to the Housing portal daily.

After signing into your "MyCalStateLA" account using your username and password, log into the Housing Portal by selecting the "Cal State LA Student Login" button.

Once signed in, select "Housing Application" and then "Academic Year 2026-2027". The system will take you step-by-step through each section of the Application and Agreement. You will have the opportunity to indicate your preference for room type, Meal Plan, payment plan, and other important reminders.

After you’ve completed the signature page in the Housing Portal, you will be redirected to the University’s Transact system. There you’ll pay the $100 Application Fee (non-refundable fee). Follow these steps:

  1. When in Transact, indicate the payment option (credit, debit, or e-check) and click on “Continue Checkout.”
  2. Then enter your payment information and click on “Continue Checkout.”
  3. Review and confirm that your payment information is correct and submit your payment.
  4. A payment receipt will appear that reflects the transaction.
  5. Click the option that allows you to return to the application.
  6. Click “Complete Application” at the bottom of the "Almost There!" page. Please be sure to do this step to ensure your confirmation information has been sent to our office.

This step must only be completed by applicants who are under the age of 18.

The Consent Form must be signed by a parent or legal guardian who agrees with the terms and conditions of the Academic Year 2026-2027 License Agreement to provide authorization for medical treatment in case of an emergency. The form must be completed, signed, and returned to the Office of Housing and Residence Life by the time you move in.

Additional Information

Applicants are considered for housing placement on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once you apply and pay the $100 fee, you'll be assigned a space. You'll be assigned to a bed space based on availability. Students will receive an email to their Cal State LA email account, confirming their room reservation.

Please note, all residents need to pay for Housing prior to moving in. 

Once you receive your Housing assignment confirmation, you can view your Fall 2026 housing charges and make your payment through GET. 

Be sure to pay by the deadline or set up a payment plan with at least 20% of your housing cost. You won’t be able to move in until one of these steps is complete.

If you’re assigned after the payment deadline, you’ll have 48 hours to make your Fall payment. Your exact amount and due date will be listed in your GET account.

Missing the payment deadline may result in losing your assigned space.

If you need to cancel your Academic Year 2026-2027 Housing License Agreement, you can submit a Cancellation Form through the Housing Portal before the cancellation deadline. Just log in, click the Housing Forms tab, and select the License Agreement Cancellation Request Form.

After the deadline, students with a room reservation must complete a Petition to Cancel Form and upload supporting documentation. Petitions are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and must meet the conditions outlined as specified in the License Agreement (External Link).

Please note, Housing reserves the right to approve or deny all cancellation requests.

Move-In will occur August 17-22, 2026. The move-in period daily is between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. You will be assigned an appointment time and receive detailed information leading up to move-in.
