Clinical Placement

Purpose

The Clinical Placement Office is designed to assist faculty, undergraduate, and graduate students in identifying individualized clinical placement opportunities throughout the Greater Los Angeles area.  The coordinators are charged with securing new agency agreements and ensuring existing agreements remain current.  Additionally, the coordinators facilitate the communications between the SON and the clinical facilities.

Information Sharing

The coordinators coordinate with faculty to meet students in the classroom to discuss placement trends, requests, and due dates and to announce deadlines. As a backup, emails are sent to students' CSULA accounts, and phone calls are made to ensure that students have the necessary information for placement.

Clinical Vault

The CPO maintains a Moodle site (School of Nursing Clinical Preceptored Courses Vault) which houses the necessary clinical paperwork for various clinical sites for both students and faculty to complete.

Clinical Agency Site and Preceptor Recruitment

The coordinators, faculty, staff, and/or students can identify new clinical sites and/or preceptors.  The coordinators will follow up on any leads.  The best way to secure a new contract is to provide the coordinators with the site's name, location, phone number, and contact person to explore the site’s/preceptor’s interest in establishing a partnership with CSULA SON.
