Recognized by WASC as "A national model for faculty development, with the express focus on student success and equity" (WASC Senior College and University Commission, 2019) and commended in a 2024 study from the Equity Based Teaching Collective.
CETL promotes teaching as an area of practice and scholarship for all faculty, in fulfillment of professional growth and the larger university mission. By growing a culture of teaching and teaching excellence, we improve the lives of a unique population of Cal State LA students.
Programs
The ACUE Certificate in Effective Teaching Practices is a fully online professional development program, created in collaboration with teaching and learning experts and grounded in evidence-based pedagogy.
The Teaching and Learning with AI program introduces faculty to generative artificial intelligence and helps them re-imagine what teaching and class prep can look like in this new age.
The Career-Engaged Departments Program takes an equity-minded, critical look at the professional abilities that the workplace will demand from graduates.
The Certificate in College Prison Teaching Program consists of six core modules and two optional ones. Faculty who complete all six core modules earn the certificate and become eligible to teach in the Prison Graduation Initiative.
The Inclusive Teaching Program is now available as a fully online certificate program, featuring seven modules, each focused on a specific topic related to inclusive teaching.
The Online & Hybrid Course Development Program supports the development of fully online courses and 50/50 hybrid courses.
