Academic Planning

Studying abroad should be incorporated into your academic plan as early as possible. Students should work with both Study Abroad and their academic advisor to understand how courses taken abroad may apply toward major, minor, General Education, elective, or other degree requirements.

Beginning the planning process early can provide greater flexibility when identifying programs and courses that support your degree progress.

Financial Planning

Program costs vary by destination and length of study. Eligible students may be able to apply financial aid toward CSU International Programs, and additional scholarships or funding opportunities may also be available.

Students should compare tuition, housing, transportation, meals, airfare, insurance, passport and visa expenses, and personal spending when developing a realistic study abroad budget.

Start Exploring Early

You do not need to have a country or program selected before beginning the study abroad process. Start by exploring your goals, academic needs, interests, financial considerations, and the kinds of experiences you want to have abroad.
