Resources

Campus Partners

Are there underlying issues that may be leading to the observed or expressed behavior?  Are there campus resources with whom you can consult? If a student is engaging in concerning or inappropriate behaviors, consider the following:

Is it safe to have a one-on-one conversation to alert the student to their behavior and the effect it is having on the learning environment, other students, staff, etc.? If so, reiterate behavioral expectations. You should refer campus resources to students as appropriate.

Crisis Counseling

CAPS Counselors are available Monday-Thursday between 8:30 am-5:45 pm, and Friday between 8:30 am-4:30 pm to assist with urgent situations, crises, or non-emergencies, related to psychological concerns. Students in crisis may walk into CAPS (or may be walked to CAPS by a Faculty, Staff, Student and/or Community member) during these hours and will be seen by a counselor in a timely manner. Students may also call CAPS (323-343-3314) to request a Counseling appointment. For medical and/or psychiatric emergencies, please call 911 and/or go to the nearest emergency room.

*Please keep in mind that calls to CAPS are not reported to the CARE Team due to confidentiality restrictions. Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) 323-343-3140: www.calstatela.edu/osd
