Spring 2022 Wellness Events

In collaboration with WellBeingU, the Division of Student Life offers events throughout the academic year to help promote student wellness. The programming helps students explore eight dimensions of wellness: spiritual, physical, environmental, emotional, intellectual, occupational, financial, and social.

February 

Monday, February 14

  • DIY SERIES – Valentine Gifts  
    • 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. | Alhambra Room   
    • The Center for Student Involvement’s DIY Series includes workshops that encourage students to imagine, design, create, and de-stress. All materials will be provided, and supplies are limited. Got any plans for Valentine’s Day? Let us help you out! With DIY bath bombs, bouquet making, and Valentine’s Day cards, there are endless possibilities for a fun date with yourself or with your loved ones! Come by to the Alhambra Room to spend your day with us and create a gift uniquely your own. For health and safety purposes, the capacity for the event will be limited to 50 people.     • Everyone has developed a relationship with how they interact, spend, save, and talk about money and finances. Through our Financial Wellness Series, we will look at how these connections were formed, enhance our financial literacy, and build healthy relationships with our finances.     • Want to look your most fly self for February? Come by our Fresh Fade February event for free haircuts. We will be contracting with a local barber to support local businesses. The barbers will be here for three hours, and it will be on a first-come, first-served basis for students to get their hair did and their fresh fades! Dimension: Physical

    • CSI’s Adulting 101 is a workshop series to help students learn the basics of adulting and life beyond college. These sessions will feature professionals in the field who will provide best practices, tips and tricks, and their expertise. Cal State LA College of Business and Economics professor, Dr. Maysami, will present the basics of how insurance works, why it is important for our students, and resources for our students.     • CSI’s DIY Series includes workshops that encourage students to imagine, design, create, and de-stress. All materials will be provided and supplies are limited.  To kick off National Spring Cleaning Week, CSI is hosting a DIY series for students to make their own hand sanitizing wipes and sanitizers. Clean with ease by learning how to make hand sanitizer and wipes with common and safe household products and choice of their favorite scents and essential oils.   • Earth Day: Rooted in Wellness
    • 3 – 5 p.m. | In-Person – South Village Courtyard & Phase I Community Center
    • Residents are invited to pick up a small pot and plant/seed to take home to their rooms or patios. We will also have information about the benefits of plants for a person’s well-being, along with information on how to care for the plant. We will also provide tips and challenges for Earth Day, including cooking techniques for plant-based meals.     • Our FSL Management Series is back! This presentation discusses an uncomfortable yet important leadership experience: managing conflict. Participants will take a conflict style assessment and then, they will be asked to define their own conflict style and compare it to the styles of others.     • Join the Center for Student Involvement and the Student Health Center at our very first Health-A-Palooza. This event will feature vendors, community partners, and health advocates to share their knowledge, expertise, and resources with our students. All booths will be interactive and if you get enough stamps from different booths you can turn in your stamp card to claim a prize. Lastly, this event will feature health demonstrations, therapy dogs, and free massages!
