Students enrolled at another California State University (CSU), University of California (UC), or California Community College may be eligible to take a course at Cal State LA without applying for regular admission. The appropriate program depends on the student’s home institution.
Students must first meet the eligibility requirements established by their home campus and the applicable enrollment program. Enrollment at Cal State LA is not guaranteed and is subject to approval, course prerequisites, space availability, Cal State LA registration procedures, and published deadlines.

CSU Concurrent Enrollment
CSU Concurrent Enrollment allows an eligible student from another CSU campus to take an approved course at Cal State LA while remaining enrolled at the home CSU during the same term. The student does not become a regularly admitted Cal State LA student through this process.
Your home CSU must certify that you:
- Have completed at least one term as a matriculated student at your home CSU.
- Have earned at least 12 units at your home CSU.
- Have earned a minimum 2.0 GPA in all work completed at your home CSU.
- Are in good academic standing.
- Will remain enrolled at home campus in full time tuition units during the period of concurrent enrollment at host campus.
- Have paid the applicable tuition and fees at your home CSU.
Graduate students may be eligible when the home CSU certifies that they meet the applicable CSU graduate concurrent-enrollment requirements. Requirements may include enrollment in an authorized graduate program, completion of at least one term, and good academic standing.
- Cal State LA enrollment is subject to space availability after regularly admitted students have had an opportunity to register.
- You must meet all course prerequisites and may be required to provide transcripts, course descriptions, or other documentation.
- Approval is valid only for the campus, course, and term listed on the application.
- You must follow Cal State LA registration dates, instructions, add procedures, and academic deadlines.
- Financial aid is administered by your home CSU. Contact your home campus financial aid office before registering.
- You are responsible for determining how the Cal State LA course will apply to your degree at your home campus.
- Approval of the application does not guarantee registration in the requested course.
Cross Enrollment
Cross Enrollment allows an eligible undergraduate student from a participating University of California campus or California Community College to take a maximum of one undergraduate course at Cal State LA during an academic term without applying for regular admission.
Your home campus must certify that you:
- Are a California resident.
- Have completed at least one term as a matriculated student at your home campus.
- Are enrolled in at least six semester units at your home campus during the term in which you want to cross-enroll.
- Have earned a minimum 2.0 GPA for completed college work and are in good academic standing.
- Have paid the appropriate tuition and fees at your home campus for the term.
- Have completed any prerequisites required for the Cal State LA course.
- Cross Enrollment is limited to one undergraduate course per academic term at Cal State LA.
- Enrollment is on a space-available basis and occurs after regularly admitted Cal State LA students have registered.
- You must follow Cal State LA registration instructions and all academic deadlines, including deadlines to add, drop, or withdraw.
- Financial aid remains the responsibility of your home campus.
- Approval of the application does not guarantee enrollment in the requested course.
