The Chin Family Institute for Nursing (CFIN) at California State University, Los Angeles, serves as a center for nursing excellence, emphasizing caring for diverse, underserved urban populations. It was created in 2016 with a philanthropic gift from Drs. William and Patricia Chin. CFIN serves as a center for nursing excellence, emphasizing caring for diverse, underserved urban populations.
Our Mission
The mission of the Chin Family Institute for Nursing is advancing nursing education, advocacy, leadership, and action. Leaders in nursing and health care will view the Chin Family Institute for Nursing and the Patricia A. Chin School of Nursing as primary sources of research and training in urban health. The Affordable Care Act's tenets that encourage disease prevention and treatment of the whole person will be emphasized.
