The Health Careers Program

In 2000, TELACU implemented one of its most successful programs to date. The TELACU Health Careers Program addresses the need for nurses who are equipped to provide competent in-language services and culturally sensitive health care.

TELACU recruits local nursing students to deliver a comprehensive program of support services and resources. The Program trains and prepares students in completing their nursing degree and achieving RN licensure. Students receive financial assistance and a full-range of educational services, including professional development seminars, résumé building and interviewing preparation, one-on-one counseling, and an NCLEX-RN preparation course. Upon achieving RN licensure, the nurses apply and are offered employment in the New Grad RN Residency at White Memorial Medical Center located in Los Angeles, CA—a valued partner since 2002—who fully funds the Program.

A Partnership with the Chin School of Nursing

Since 2015, the Program has recruited over 11 Cal State LA students from the ADN-to-BSN Collaborative Program resulting in an $88,000 investment in scholarships. These Cal State LA nursing graduates have been successfully hired at White Memorial in their DOU, Emergency Department, GI Lab, and Labor & Delivery units.

It is also with great excitement to announce that students: Martha Rivas, RN, Camille Artechi, RN, and Lindsey Silva, RN (pictured above) have been accepted into the Program. Upon graduation, these students will launch their careers at White Memorial and join a legacy of exceptionally brilliant and talented TELACU nurses committed to service and excellence.
