Welcome to Cal State LA’s CHRS initiative as we advance toward a more connected and streamlined HR experience.
The Common Human Resources System (CHRS) is a California State University (CSU) initiative to bring all 22 campuses and the Chancellor’s Office onto a single, integrated HR platform. Built on PeopleSoft 9.2 and enhanced with CSU-specific improvements, CHRS will provide standardized processes, consistent data, and improved services across the system.
Cal State LA is currently in an active implementation phase, with campus teams participating in Pass B testing—a critical step in which real processes and system functionality are being validated. This work is helping ensure a smooth transition as we prepare for our May 2026 go-live.
CHRS will modernize how we manage HR, payroll, and employee data, while introducing enhanced self-service tools and a more intuitive user experience for faculty, staff, and student employees.

Why is the CSU implementing CHRS?
CHRS is a streamlined, sustainable, and cost-effective HR system that offers opportunities for collaboration and enhancement across the entire CSU system. CHRS is based on PeopleSoft 9.2 with modifications to make it work for the CSUs business needs. These modifications have been designed by experts from all the CSUs, and are being built by the Chancellor’s Office.

Throughout the CHRS project’s implementation, updates will be sent to keep the campus informed of the progress. For more information on the CHRS Program, please contact us at [email protected].
