ABOUT OUR DIRECTOR
JOSEPH KASTELY MSN, BSN, RN, PHN, CMSRN
Joe Kastely is a Registered Nurse with 11 years of work experience in Medical/Surgical and Progressive Care Nursing with a focus on Respiratory Care. He obtained a National Certification in Medical Surgical Nursing, CMSRN. In addition, he has been faculty for the past 6 years with the Patricia A. Chin School of Nursing (PACSON) at Cal State LA, teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and has served as a coordinator for the ABSN program at Cal State LA for the past 4 years. He recently transitioned into the role of Simulation Center Director, where he focuses on building immersive experiences for students utilizing both traditional simulation tools and emerging technologies like virtual reality. He is a double alumnus of the CSU system, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from CSU Long Beach, and a Master of Science in Nursing Education (MSN) from Cal State LA. He is a member of the Cal State LA Nu Mu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Joe is committed to creating engaging learning environments in and out of the classroom and believes that fostering a growth mindset, by focusing on praising effort and incremental improvement, is crucial to creating equitable opportunities for all learners.
