A Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Degree will prepare advanced practice nurses for complex practice, leadership roles in the clinical setting, and teaching roles at community colleges and universities.
What to Expect
At the end of the day, you can receive a same-day admission decision from our Nursing Faculty admission committee. Please note that if you are selected, your application will then be recommended to the University Office of Admissions and Recruitment, who will complete a final review to determine your eligibility for admission.
To ensure a smooth process, please come prepared with the following documents saved as PDF files:
- Unofficial or official transcripts
- Resume
- California Registered Nurse (RN) License
- California NP/CNS/CRNA/CNM and NP Furnishing license (if applicable)
- Proof of National Certification (if applicable).
- The names and email addresses of three individuals who will provide letters of recommendation for you.
Your personal statement typed and ready to upload as a document:
Your personal statement (no more than 2 pages double spaced) should include your reasons for wanting to pursue the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, at least one idea of a clinical problem or issue you are interested in addressing for your DNP capstone project, and why California State University, Los Angeles' program best meets your needs.Indicate the setting where you are planning to complete the project. This is typically at your place of employment and an agreement from your employer should be obtained prior to starting the program. The project should focus on activities in your current practice specialty (e.g., Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Leader/Administrator, Clinical Nurse Specialist, etc.)
