Our mission at ORSCA is to support faculty and student engagement in research, scholarship, and creative activities, furthering the mission of the University.
The Office of Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities (ORSCA) provides guidance to the Cal State LA community on funding opportunities, grant proposal process, and research compliance. ORSCA is led by Associate Vice President for Research, Jeffrey Underwood.
To ensure the highest conformity with university and federal policies, ORSCA also provides resources and support with:
- Institution Review Board (IRB) Training--for compliance issues related to the use of human subjects
- Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee instruction--compliance for the use of animal subjects in research
- Export Control - set of laws, policies, and regulations that govern the export of sensitive items for a country or company
- Fiancial Conflict of Interest - requirements and guidelines for disclosures (on both an annual and an ad hoc basis) of financial interests and professional relationships related to research projects
Additionally, we make available information regarding research misconduct and intellectual property. As your research edges closer to fruition, we will assist you with the intellectual property and technology transfer processes of your project.
