In Memoriam: Remembering Dr. P. K. Subramanian

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. P. K. Subramanian, a distinguished mathematician and educator. He peacefully departed on August 30, 2023, in South Pasadena, California, at the age of 85.

Dr. Subramanian was a luminary in his field, holding dual doctorates in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin. His illustrious career included 15 years at Missouri Southern State College from 1970 to 1985, where he achieved tenure and full professorship. In 1985, he joined Cal State LA as a full professor, later serving as department chair from 2001 to 2007.

Throughout his tenure at Cal State LA, Dr. Subramanian made significant contributions, publishing prolifically in renowned journals and securing funding from prestigious institutions like the NSA and NSF. He was also a Fulbright Professor in 1990 and 1993. His mentorship of students led many to earn their PhDs.

Dr. Subramanian's expertise lay in functional analysis and optimization, leaving an enduring mark on the field of mathematics. He is survived by his beloved wife Karen and daughter Jyoti.
