Work-Study

Cal State LA participates in two student employment programs: The Federal Work Study Program (FWS) and the Learning-Aligned Employment Program (LAEP). Both programs offer eligible students the opportunity to earn money to help defray their educational costs while gaining education-aligned, career-related employment. Student employment affords students with an opportunity to work on or off campus and earn money to supplement school expenses not covered by grants or loans.  Please note eligible students will not be approved for both programs simultaneously during a given academic year.

Work Study Programs

Federal Work Study (FWS)

The Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program is a federally funded program administered by the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office that provides part-time employment opportunities to earn money to help pay education expenses through on and off-campus jobs. Students can work up to 20 hours per week while classes are in session.

The Learning-Aligned Employment Program (LAEP) is a state-funded program that offers eligible underrepresented students the opportunity to earn money to help defray their educational costs while gaining education-aligned, career-related employment.
