EOP FALL 2022 ENRICHMENT WORKSHOPS 

Our Enrichment Workshops offered online and in person, cover a range of topics to help you maximize your experience at Cal State LA. EOP students must attend a minimum of three Enrichment Workshops per semester. If you are experiencing academic challenges, please contact your EOP counselor.

If you attend a non-EOP workshop or activity, let us know by filling out the Enrichment Activity Attendance Form.

EOP Transfer Students Welcome

Students will have the opportunity to learn more about EOP services, expectations, and on-campus resources and meet their counselor. There will be a student panel of current EOP students who will share their personal experiences as transfer students to the university.

EOP Welcome Back

Welcoming our EOP students back to campus. Fall 2020, 2021, and 2022 EOP freshmen cohorts are invited to come to meet and greet with the EOP staff, EOP Director, EOP Counselors, and EOP Peer Advisors. Spend a few hours mingling with other EOP students, say hi to old friends, and meet some new ones. Hear about the upcoming EOP events for the Fall and Spring semesters. Enjoy some light refreshments, play games, say hello to your EOP Counselor, and have a chance to win Golden Eagle Dollars and more.

Growth Zone's "Building Our Brains" Workshop Series

The Building Our Brains Workshop Series aims to support EOP student development by helping students develop better learning habits and skills in and out of the classroom. From learning how to balance course load by providing effective organizational tools to understanding how motivation, i.e., the motivation cycle actually works, students will discover a variety of concepts and tools and learn how to use them to maximize their full potential as Golden Eagles.

Growth Zone's Study & Game Nights

Facilitator: Jeff Munoz & Vanessa Pacheco | Time: 5 – 8 p.m. | Location: EOP Lounge\ ADM Conference Rm 4334

Growth Zone Study Nights provide a safe and welcoming space for EOP students to come to study alone or with friends. Students will have access to SI leaders who can support them in Statistics and Pre-calculus, as well as GZ Mentors who can provide on-the-spot study skills advice and mentoring.

Study Skills

The workshop will examine students' current study habits. Tips on how to develop study skills will be explained. Motivational tips will be provided to maintain their focus and momentum.

Students will have the opportunity to learn more about the undergraduate application process, dates, and deadlines. Students will learn how to complete the application using their advising report planned on GET.

Embrace The Gap

College Student Etiquette

The College Student Etiquette Workshop provides essential life skills for a successful college transition and strategies needed to put your best foot forward when interacting and building connections with college professors, staff, and peers.

What Does This Mean?  What Should I Do? Understanding University Policies and How to Best Apply Them When Needed

Facilitator: Ricardo Ramos | Friday, September 23 | Time: 1 – 2:30 p.m. | Location: TBA

This program introduces students to Cal State LAs' academic policies and shows them how to apply them when needed.  Students will learn the withdrawal process, grade forgiveness, repeat limit exception, return from an educational leave, financial aid standards, and other policies that may be useful for their academic success.  Once the policies are introduced, students will be allowed, in groups, to review different case scenarios, and decide what policy to best apply.

Am I on the Right Track? Educational, Pre-Major, and GE Planning for Timely Graduation

Review the Lower Division General Education (GE) chart and University Graduation requirements. Learn Pre-Major (Major Specific Criteria) to declare a major. Explore Degree Planner, and Major Road Maps and participate in educational planning activities.

Networking 101

Of the many skills you will learn in college, networking is a big one. This vital skill in communication and relationship building will prepare you to meet new people and seek better opportunities not only while in college but beyond. You will learn valuable networking tips and will have an opportunity to practice them with other EOP students.

University Policies and Procedures

Students will have the opportunity to learn more about the university policies and procedures. EOP students will learn about services, university guidelines, expectations, and where to find on-campus resources. A special guest from the Dean of Students will be invited.

EOP Students Building Confidence when experiencing Impostor Syndrome

Students will have the opportunity to learn about Imposter Syndrome, students will be able to identify and recognize the signs of imposter syndrome, and students will be able to find coping mechanisms and campus resources to build confidence when experiencing it.

Build Your Brand

Mindfulness Monday: Acing Finals

The Mindfulness Monday: Acing Finals workshop will provide a virtual space to share and practice strategies to plan, prepare, and pamper yourself (self-care) in order to alleviate exam anxiety going into finals week.

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Financial Aid Appeal

Review the SAP policy for Financial. Learn how to maintain satisfactory academic status for financial aid purposes. Review SAP Appeal instructions, and policy and receive support in developing an academic plan and SAP narrative for SAP appeal.
