To get an interview, you need an impactful résumé and cover letter. We’ll help you stand out as a college student or recent grad during this 5-step program. You’ll engage in interactive activities to build your professional résumé and cover letter and receive feedback from career advisors.

Employers want to see your experiences at Cal State LA. We’ll help you identify these experiences and show you how to design an impactful résumé.


Step Two: How do I best showcase my contributions?

Tuesday, July 19
1 – 2:30 p.m.

Now that you know which experiences will best show your professional abilities, let’s explore what you have accomplished. We’ll help you identify these accomplishments and give you a quick formula to make writing them easy.


Step Three: How do I tell my story in a cover letter?

Wednesday, July 20
1 – 2:30 p.m.

The cover letter is an expanded version of your résumé. It’s your opportunity to share your story and demonstrate what you can contribute. We’ll help you identify effective talking points to start your draft.


Step Four: Who would I hire? (Thinking like a recruiter)

Thursday, July 21
1 – 2:30 p.m.

The average employer knows within 30 seconds of reading a résumé who they will invite to an interview. We’ll share how employers approach their assessments through interactive role-plays. Don’t miss this insider workshop.  


Step Five: Can you give me feedback? (Review and feedback session)

Friday, July 22

Now that you have included the insider tips we’ve shared in the program, let’s see how it all comes together. You’ll receive feedback on the résumé and cover letter you created in this program.
