Employment at Deloitte

Accounting Major / 2015 Graduation

After transferring from my community college and receiving an AA in Psychology I changed my major to Business Admin with an option in Accounting. I joined Beta Alpha Psi and met an amazing group of people that later turned into my best friends. I owe a lot to Beta Alpha Psi and the people I met because throughout my time in Cal State LA I learned a lot from them about how to find jobs in accounting. During my time in Cal State LA I was determined, and worked as hard as I possibly could to get a high GPA and learn everything I could to get into a good job in accounting. I also spent countless hours at networking events and networking with professionals, attending professional development events, and applying for jobs during recruiting season. Eventually I was able to attain a full time offer at Deloitte as an Audit Associate. Thank you to all my professors and friends for helping me when I needed it. I could not have done it without you all.

Employment at BDO USA, LLP

Accounting Major / 2015 Graduation

My current employment opportunity started from an email sent out by the College of Business and Economics (CBE). The CBE has always kept me up to date on accounting firms that hold on-campus events. The email I received informed me of an upcoming event held by BDO USA, LLP public accounting firm. I put the date in my calendar, prepared my suit and when the day came, I was ready to meet the professionals. I am extremely grateful to the College of Business and Economics because they provided the platform for the initial interaction with the professionals at BDO. This was the first step in landing a full-time position as an audit associate with a multi-million dollar international public accounting firm.

Employment at The Mission Continues

Computer Information Systems Major / 2016 Graduation

I transferred to CSULA from Coastline Community College, which I completed an Associate of Science in Computer Networking: Microsoft a week after separating from the U.S Navy after 5 years. I was admitted through the Troops to College program. I am currently majoring in Computer Information Systems with an option in Business Systems and minoring in Finance. I chose my major because I was an IT in the Navy, which I learned a lot about troubleshooting computer issues, setting up computer equipment, and performing maintenance with our ship’s network. I chose the minor in Finance to expand my knowledge about the business field. I am currently participating in a fellowship through The Mission Continues program at a nonprofit called LIFT-Los Angeles. The Mission Continues’ fellowship program allows veterans to serve their communities for six months and I chose LIFT because of its mission to eliminate poverty. I heard about The Mission Continues through the CSULA Student Veterans Organization’s former president, who was doing the fellowship in 2014. Being at LIFT since late January 2015 allowed me to interact with amazing leadership and help our members achieve their individual goals, whether it is securing employment, seeking financial services, adjusting their immigration status, or wanting to learn English. I am grateful for the opportunities CSULA provides and it feels great to give back to the local Los Angeles community. Whether you are a veteran or not, I encourage you to serve your community for a few months and be a model citizen for others.

Intern at UnionBanc Investment Services

Economics Major / 2016 Graduation

I transferred to CSULA from UC Riverside in the fall of 2014. I am an Economics major here at CSULA. Here at CSULA I enjoy being challenged to think critically about Economics by my professors.  The professors here are very engaging and available for students when in need of help.  I am currently an intern at UnionBanc Investment Services a subsidiary of MUFG Union Bank; I was able to learn about this opportunity through a CSULA alumni with over 20 years experience in the finance industry. CSULA, because of its location offers a great alumni network which when utilized to the fullest is beneficial for students.

Intern at So Cal Gas

Finance Major / 2015 Graduation

Since arriving at CSULA and declaring a double major (Business Administration/Economics), I made a commitment to stay involved with the activities and resources available to us outside the classroom. I have enjoyed my time at CSULA, and the university’s career placement services has helped me prepare for my transition from college student to career professional. In the summer I will be graduating, and will begin my career as Business Analyst at Southern California Gas Company. I highly encourage my peers to take advantage of all the resources CSULA has to offer because having an internship before you graduate, has become increasingly important.

Intern at NASA / JPL

Finance Major / 2016 Graduation

I am currently a junior at California State University, Los Angeles at the College of Business & Economics majoring in in Finance with a minor in Economics.  I’ve been fortunate enough to get very involved with on campus organizations where I’ve engaged with many other colleges as well as staff. Throughout my academic career, I have been given many opportunities to learn not only in the classroom but gain valuable experience as well.

Placement Services, under the Dean’s office of the business college has countless opportunities for the students ranging from internships to full time jobs. So far, I’ve been able to obtain two internships over the past three years. Ever since middle school I have been very interested in the Aerospace industry and with the opportunities marketed to the CSULA students, I was able to intern at The Boeing Company last summer and will be interning at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory summer 2015. I am extremely grateful for the opportunities provided to me by the university and I highly encourage my peers to take full advantage this.  Everyone, get involved today!

Computer Information Systems / 2017 Graduation

As a recent transfer to CSULA from Pasadena City College, I am currently double majoring in Computer Information Systems and Business Administration with an option in Pre-legal Studies. My status as a double major has given me the great pleasure to encounter and interact with faculty and students of diverse backgrounds. I’ve been encouraged to pursue my interests while developing professionally and academically. That being said, the services provided to me by the University’s Career Development Center have been extremely beneficial. I have been informed of the various internships that are available and marketed to CSULA’s students. I am also kept aware of the companies that come to campus to engage students. In fact my current internship with NBCUniversal, I found using Eagle iJobs. All in all, I am grateful for the opportunities provided to me by the University and encourage my peers to utilize the resources provided to us.
