Congratulations to CBE graduate student Parkev Tatevosian and Finance faculty member Dr. Yalan Feng for passing the level three Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program exam. The CFA program consists of three levels, increasing in complexity with each level. It is well known to students and professionals in the finance world for its low pass rates.
Parkev joined the CBE as an incoming transfer student. He graduated from Cal State LA in the Summer of 2017 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an option in Finance and a minor in Economics. In the fall of 2017, Parkev continued his studies by enrolling in the Masters of Financial Economics program and is expected to graduate Summer 2020.
Parkev participated in a series of workshops offered by CBE Finance faculty Dr. Yalan Feng who also passed the level three exam this year. Dr. Feng participated in the CFA Program with the intention to embed the program topics into the undergraduate finance curriculum and to help students prepare for the CFA Program exams.
Dr. Feng started the CFA prep workshops in spring 2015. Class sessions were held each week to discuss exam topics and practice sample questions. Soon after attending Dr. Feng’s workshops, one student passed the level one exam. Encouraged by this success, Dr. Feng continued to provide workshops each year. She welcomed all interested students and her work has certainly had a positive impact.
