MBA Students Become Runner ups in the 58th International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition

ICBSC

This year, under the mentorship of Professor Dick Gregerson, four MBA students, Ale Olivo, Larry Eichel, Laura Chang, and Prateek Daftari became second in a highly competitive simulation game.

The International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition is a challenging competitive event that provides students with an exciting learning experience in which they, in direct competition with other college teams, run a simulated company and have the opportunity to network with business executives and students from around the world. Professor Gregerson summed their semester-long experience as “each team member deftly applied their business training to help the team succeed. Prateek Daftari performed an incisive financial analysis to identify problems and opportunities. Ale Oliva analyzed competitors' pricing models and charted a path to achieve ever-higher market share. Laura Chang, a marketing major, dusted off her finance and accounting training and made an exceptional CFO providing very accurate forecasts of available cash to fuel the company's plans. Larry Eichel led the group, setting the agenda, helping to delineate alternatives, and formulate a cohesive strategy. It was a pleasure to see them work so well together. Teamwork was especially important because the game was beset with computer problems and delays. Our team worked late into the night to complete tasks in a very compressed time period.”

Congratulations to our MBA students and Professor Gregerson!
