“A joyful heart is good medicine,” Proverbs 17:22 is Professor Medina’s favorite quote, and here’s why…

After accumulating over 25 years of business experience, in which he has “failed and succeeded multiple times, thus learning hard, valuable lessons,” Professor Leonardo Medina joined the CBE’s Marketing department back in the Fall of 2019.

“I never thought of becoming a professor,” Professor Medina tells us. “Others, in fact, saw me as a professor before I realized that I could ever become one. Apparently, folks believed I was a subject matter expert in certain business areas and thought I can be influential in the classroom.”

Specifically, “My mother, Maria, wife, Olivia, former ELAC Department Chair, Elaine, and former ELAC, Vice President, Armida Ornelas, are female figures who inspired me in my career.”

For Professor Medina, the sweetest fruit of his labor is being able to facilitate and position his students for college and career success.

His students would be surprised to know that although he was born and raised in East Los Angeles, not by choice; he still lives in East Los Angeles, by choice. They would also be surprised to know that Professor Medina, who is in his early forties, is also known as “grandpa.” That’s right – he has a beautiful granddaughter, Eloise Aletheia.

His favorite quote is from Proverbs 17:22, “A joyful heart is good medicine,” and he certainly exemplifies it. When he and his wife are not fawning over their gorgeous granddaughter, he unwinds by “praying over scripture, jogging, taking my amazing wife out to a romantic dinner, and meet with Christians for fellowship.”
