The Student Health Center offers students a variety of activities to support student health and wellbeing and academic success. This semester's offerings include:
American Red Cross Blood Drives
Going to a hospital without blood is like jumping from a plane without a parachute! Give blood...Give life! (American Red Cross)
Appointments are typically available for the American Red Cross blood drives 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. on scheduled dates. The bloodmobile will be located in parking lot '4' between the administration and biological sciences buildings. Appointments are preferred. Walk-ins are welcome.
For your convenience, there are two ways you can schedule an appointment for the American Red Cross blood drives:
- Go online at redcrossblood.org. Click on the 'Make a Blood Donation Appointment' link and enter sponsor code 'calstatela'.
- Call the American Red Cross at (800) GIVE-LIFE (800-448-3543).

About Our Groups and Workshops
These valuable groups and workshops help students develop and maintain healthy strategies and skills for addressing life's challenges. The privacy of all disclosures by clients in workshops and groups is protected by state and federal laws and the Cal State LA Student Conduct Code.
- Skill-based group counseling that addresses specific concerns.
- Longer term process groups that share a common concern.

The Health Promotion and Education Center offers American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver CPR AED and Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers courses for current Cal State LA students and employees. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required for all CPR trainings. Call the Center at (323) 343-3340.
BLS and Heartsaver CPR and AED courses start at 9:00 a.m. on the scheduled date and are 4.5-5 hours in length. HeartCode® BLS sessions are conducted by appointment and session length is approximately 3 hours. To view our current training schedule, click on:

CPR, first aid, and AED training are available throughout the community. If our program does not meet your training needs, you may find other training sites by calling the American Heart Association (AHA) at (877) AHA-4CPR or visiting the AHA. In addition, the AHA has a line of e-learning programs. Visit OnlineAHA.org for more information.
All prospective training participants should verify their training requirements with their academic department, internship/volunteer placement site, and/or employer.
AHA strongly promotes knowledge & proficiency in BLS, ACLS, & PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by AHA. Any fees charged for this course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course material, do not represent income to AHA.
Eat Healthy, Be Active Workshop Series
Need help with your nutrition and fitness goals? Join us for this 4-session nutrition and physical activity workshop series! A different topic each session! Each workshop features free healthy and delicious snacks (while supplies last).
All workshops take place in the Student Health Center, room 210, 3:15-4:10 p.m., Wednesdays, beginning February 27th.
