Dr. Zhe (Meredith) Zhang, assistant professor of sociology at Cal State LA, has published her first-authored article in the Journal of Health and Social Behavior, a leading journal in the field.
The study examines how growing up in multigenerational households, defined as a child living with at least one parent and one grandparent, is associated with mental health trajectories during adolescence and young adulthood. Findings reveal that these patterns differ across racial groups, with multigenerational living arrangements sometimes providing protective effects for Hispanic/Latino youth and sometimes not for White youth.
