Student Research Consultants are Cal State LA students who have been trained to help with basic research and citation questions. If you need help getting started with your research, brainstorming keywords, finding books and articles on a particular subject, formatting citations, etc., make a half-hour appointment to meet with a research consultant.* Student Research Consultants will not do the research or format citations for you, but they will provide examples and model best practices to walk you through the research and citation process.
Spring 2022 Semester Hours:
- Monday - Thursday: 10:00am - 6:00pm
- Friday: 11:00am - 5:00pm
Please Note: Research appointments are available online (via Zoom) and in-person in the glass cubicles on the 1st floor of library north.
If you have a more complex assignment (such as: a literature review, a major paper for an upper-division course, a topic that is somewhat obscure and not covered well in the Cal State LA collection, using primary sources or special collections, etc.) you can request a research consultation with a librarian subject specialist. Librarians will not do the research or format citations for you, but they will provide you with strategies and resources to help you with your assignment.
Please Note: All research appointments are conducted online (via zoom) this Semester. Hours are dependent on the individual Librarian's availability.
