Ustav Malpani

Utsav Malpani, Graduate Assistant

Utsav graduated from DAVV University with an MBA in Finance and Marketing. He worked as a Business Development Manager for two years before he planned to pursue his career in Information Systems at California State University, Los Angeles. He is currently in the second year of his Master's program and has worked as an Orientation Leader for New Student and Parent Programs at Cal State LA.

Christine Kim

Christine Kim, Student Assistant for Graduate Admissions Counselor

Christine Kim is currently the student assistant for the Graduate Admission’s counselor, Jane Ratan. She came to California State University of Los Angeles following her sister’s footsteps who also attended our school. Realizing her passion to create ideas and concepts she decided to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an option in marketing. With great motivation to become something greater she decided to also strive for two minors, Communications and Korean. Christine wanted to develop skills that would not only help her gain more opportunities, but more importantly help her grow as an individual. She hopes to inspire many others within her family and friends that if you truly believe in yourself there is nothing that can stop you. Christine’s journey continues and one day she hopes to even pursue her MBA at Cal State LA.

Janice Marquec

Janice Marquec, Student Assistant

Janice started attending Cal State LA in Fall 2016 in order to receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She was going to follow in her mother’s footsteps and pursue Accounting until she started volunteering with multiple organizations during her high school career which showed her that she was very passionate about helping and caring for those in need which brought her to the self-realization that the characteristics of a Registered Nurse embodied the job she was destined to have. Janice has been working as a student assistant in the CBE Student Services Center and always serves students with an optimistic attitude and friendly smile. Her hobbies include singing and listening to R&B, spending time with her family, watching basketball, and eating.

Brisena Castaneda
Paola Gomez Meza, Student Assistant

Paola Gomez-Meza is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Her goal is to work in the Aerospace Field in the department of Propulsion Thermal, Fluids, and Structural Analysis. She plans on continuing her education to get a masters and one day to get a PHD in her field. She is highly involved on campus in the greek life and major clubs. She is a member of Alpha theta Pi , American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Women Society of Engineering. While also participating in SAE Formula where she and her team mates work on student design team to develop a small Formula-style race car. She enjoys watching football and playing soccer during her free time.

Jacob Julag-ay

Jacob Julag-ay, Student Assistant

Jacob Julag-ay is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. He enjoys and has a passion with working with computer hardware and software. With his degree, he eventually wants to work as a software developer. During the weekend, he sings at his local church choir. On his free time, he enjoys playing volleyball and building computers.


Jose Fidencio Najera

Stephanie Jimenez, Student Assistant

Stephanie started attending Cal State Los Angeles in Fall of 2017 after transferring from Pasadena City College. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and wants to continue her education by obtaining her masters at Cal State LA. Her long term goal is to one day follow the footsteps of her mentors and become an Economic professor. On her free time, Stephanie enjoys going to the gym, attending baseball games, and spending time with family.


Morgan Oyler, Student Assistant

Morgan started at CSULA in the Fall of ’17 and is currently enrolled in the MA in Economics program through CSULA. He received his BA in History from Gonzaga University. Morgan began working as a counselor to youth in foster care before transitioning into a business development role in the e-commerce industry. In his spare time, he enjoys basketball, reading, and spending time with his dog.
