GRADUATION WRITING ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENT (GWAR) COURSES
Cal State L.A. students pursuing the baccalaureate who are subject to requirements of the 1984-85 or subsequent catalogs are required to satisfy the Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement (GWAR).
The GWAR is normally met by passing the Upper-Division Disciplinary Writing Requirement course with a grade of "C" or better; i.e., students who earn a grade of C- or lower on the GWAR course for their major will need to repeat the course or take a different GWAR course. They may also satisfy it by successfully completing a university approved upper division university writing course that has received a GWAR designation; students who previously satisfied the GWAR by passing the WPE under the prior policy will have also satisfied this requirement.
This list includes all approved GWAR courses. Courses are discipline specific and may not serve as good alternatives for students who are not in that discipline.
