Mental Health First Aid Training

Cal State LA is proud to offer Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training for students, faculty, and staff at Cal State LA. Participants learn: 

  • Risk factors and warning signs of serious and developing mental health challenges
  • How to talk with a person who might be experiencing a mental health challenge
  • Strategies to help identify the next best steps. 

To receive an MHFA certificate of completion, participants must stay for the duration of the training.

Training takes place through a combination of online pre-work and an in-person instructor-led session. Learners must be 18 or older to participate.

Summer 2025 training sessions are only for faculty and staff.

Fall 2025 training dates for the campus community will be released 1 week before the semester begins. 


Summer 2025 Training Dates (Faculty/Staff Only)

The online coursework must be completed before attending this in-person session. Instructions for creating your user account and completing the online portion of the training will be sent after registration closes. Registration for this session will close on July 10th.
